Life Beyond Morton’s: Let’s Get Salted!
Sept 7th at the Great Lakes Herb Faire
The vast majority of people in the US have salt in their kitchens. What’s more, it's even likely to be found on kitchen tables. Salt might well be thought of as a “gateway herb”.
Perhaps you know the way it enhances the flavor of caramels or maybe you’ve even gargled with salt water. Yet, even in a pinch (!), salt can be a simple, affordable and familiar "go to" for so very many health concerns. In this workshop we will discuss its history while making and sampling several preparations as we explore this ally as an essential in any apothecary. Let’s get salted together!
Henna for the Lion Hearted (in the Kids Tent)
Sept 7th at the Great Lakes Herb Faire
Yes, that’s right! Henna is often used as a temporary tattoo. All those brave enough are invited to create temporary tattoos. We will be making art and working with a natural plant dye made from the leaves of a plant called henna.
And the best part? We will be drawing with this dye on our bodies! Everyone will have an opportunity to create their own design or to choose from an existing design and then draw their design on their hands or arms, feet or legs!
Henna tattoos can last for a few days to a few weeks and will naturally fade, leaving no trace whatsoever.
