Testimonials and Experiences from Mentees
"After several years of self-directed study, taking fundamental herbal courses from a variety of instructors, I was looking for someone to help me pull my learning experiences together and transition from student to practitioner. I wanted a taste of clinical practice, but I wasn’t sure how to do it, if I was ready, or if it was for me. I considered several schools and programs designed to prepare you for clinical practice, but I decided I wanted a more personalized approach. Additionally, I had the added challenge of living in a remote rural area with few to no clinical herbalists or herbal schools nearby. Mentorship with Leslie provided me with the solution I was looking for. I’ve been working with her for almost two years now, both one-on-one and in clinical roundtable. Her student-centered approach is challenging me to question my beliefs around medicine and care, and to discover what a clinical herbal practice might look like for me. Her style is gentle but honest, sincere, and wonderfully humorous. She creates a 100% safe and welcoming space for learning. In fairy tale terms, Leslie is that key helper or ally you encounter in the dark forest—for me, in that liminal area between herbal student and practitioner—who both tests and aids you on your quest."

After years of self-study and group learning in the field of herbalism, I wanted to explore clinical practice with the help of a mentor.
I was lucky enough to meet Leslie Alexander at an herbal conference. Leslie meets me at my skill level and works at my pace while also supplying ample opportunities for growth. She’s generous with resources and recommendations, as well as freely sharing her own clinical practice.
I’m grateful to work with someone who has both a passion for the craft of herbalism and dedication to a quality client experience. I’m glad I jumped at the chance to learn from Leslie.

Choosing Leslie Alexander as a mentor has been one of the best decisions I have made in my business and herbal career. When I began working with clients, I was floundering, feeling overwhelmed and unsure.
Leslie met me where I was, helping me to fill in the gaps in my practice and herb shop by expertly guiding me to grow in the areas I had weaknesses and build on the areas I had strengths.
Leslie is incredibly knowledgeable about herbs and herbal medicine. She has a deep understanding of the science behind herbs and how they interact with the human body. She is also very skilled at teaching and explaining complex concepts in a clear and concise way.
In addition to her knowledge and teaching skills, Leslie is also a very personable and supportive individual. She always makes time for her mentees and their questions, and she genuinely cares about their success.
After just two years of mentoring alongside Leslie, I feel much more confident working with clients and all the other areas of my business and practice. I have thoroughly loved learning alongside her on my journey and will continue to do so on my path to becoming a registered herbalist.
I highly recommend Leslie Alexander to anyone who is looking for a mentor who can help them grow their herbal knowledge and practice. She is a truly gifted herbalist and teacher, and I am so grateful for her guidance and support.

Leslie and I began working together in Spring 2021. I am a community herbalist who wanted to refine my personal herbal protocol regarding some chronic challenges that I have. In addition, I was seeking a way to deepen my knowledge of herbs and health without the pressure of structured herb classes. Our 1 X 1 work together is in the process of meeting both of those goals. Leslie has a wealth of knowledge and integrates broadly within the emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions. She is flexible during our sessions, responding to my concerns with compassion, humor, and sharp intellect. Her follow-up regarding links/herbs/supplements is prompt and carefully curated. In summary, I highly recommend Leslie to share your path for restoring health naturally.

Leslie is a gracious mentor, offering her time, knowledge, and wisdom at every encounter. Leslie is an incredibly present listener who can take what you say and reflect it back to you in a way that provides you with a deeper understanding of yourself. I feel really supported by her guidance in a way that brings out my strengths and unique qualities rather than feeling I’m being molded by her own perspectives. She encourages you to explore and find your own voice. In an age of information overload it is a gift to have a guide that can provide a clear voice and grounded experience; Leslie provides all that and so much more.

“In my ongoing mentorship with Leslie she has provided me with an invaluable support system that assured me on my path of clinical herbalism. She listens deeply and her introspective and inquisitive nature ensures that all my needs are met; even the ones I didn’t know I had when starting my own practice. While she is a wealth of knowledge and resources, she also knows how to make you look inside of yourself for the answers which builds confidence in the young herbalist. These qualities within her have nurtured my growth immensely.”

as i’m wandering the yard this spring, i hear leslie’s voice in my mind’s ear helping me identify & harvest different herbs for drying. we worked together for a few months last autumn & it was a joyful experience during those early morning zoom classes. i not only learned herbs, but also how to use zoom....a new experience. i felt i needed an in-person, hands-on experience & this class provided that on opposite ends of pennsylvania. perhaps in the future i might resume where i left off.

I had the pleasure to work one-on-one with Leslie Alexander for several years with her as my mentor. I found Leslie to be great helping me to fill in the gaps when it came to consulting with clients which helped me to round out my intake skills with my clients. She had a fresh perspective and helped me to consider things differently than I would normally, giving me a broader view of the big picture when it came to creating protocols for my clients and considering how to best approach a plan to help them on their herbal journey to wellness. I felt our time together was invaluable and to this day use the skills and techniques I learned with her when working with clients.
